I Can't Believe 7th Grade is Almost Over!

OH MY GOSH!!! The school is almost over, I can't believe it! It really flew by! However fast this year went, I still had a year filled to the brim with laughs, tears, drama, and countless hours in my room with textbooks and a pencil. Being in middle school may be the world of drama, but it's also about finding yourself and having a good time before you have to worry about college. This year had its ups and downs, but it was DEFINITELY better than 6th grade! So here's some of my favorite and worst moments of my seventh grade year!


Ok, so in pre-school through sixth grade, you are nothing but a small child, who gets to do NOTHING! Once you hit seventh grade, though, you are officially entering the world of teenagers, FINALLY!!! Maybe at first, on my thirteenth birthday, it didn't seem any different, but after a while, you really become a teen! Yeah, your emotions are completely out of control, but you get to do so much more! Yes, that includes more responsibilities, but with those, come FREEDOM!!! Ok, maybe not total freedom, but at least some! One thing I get to do is be left alone for awhile at the movies and Schlitterbahn. I love ya Mom, but I need my space! I also heard from my mom by hinting that I MIGHT get to wear makeup...YES! That is some of my freedoms for the moment, I can't wait until more freedom!


So after a while during the year, basketball season began to creep up. Now I was a little nervous when tryouts came up. Ok, maybe not a little, A LOT!!! You see, I didn't get to play a whole lot last year. I was lucky if I even got to play more than my two minutes. However, after last year's season, I played on a select team, so I learned a lot more and improved my skills. So this year, not only did I play more, I was a STARTER!!! Oh my gosh, I was so excited, I had gone to the bench warmer of the year to a starter! Thanks coach for letting me play!! So we played the season, and we did okay, and then the last tournament of the season. I was so nervous, and it did not help that half our girls were hurt or sick. So I played a whole lot of the first game, and I did pretty good! When we were finally out of the tournament, sadly we didn't win, then came the moment of MVP for our team. I was so nervous, I had always wanted MVP! Then they called my name, and AHHHH! I was so excited it was rediculous!! However, I didn't look that excited because well, I had just played like two or three games in a row. Now that was a great middle school moment!

Last year I was the nerd with braces. Yup, I had those disgusting pieces of metal glued to my teeth. Yeah, maybe everyone had or has them, but I personally hated them. Then came the day when, YES, I GOT THEM OFF! It was one of my favorite days of seventh grade. No more pretending I was following all the rules about what not to eat, (I actually broke all the rules...) or having to constantly look in a mirror to see if a piece of food got stuck in your bracket. I am finally free! Even though I had to wear the horrible retainer for EVER, I don't even have to wear that during the day now! So if you're reading this and you have those horrible things orthidontists call braces, don't worry, one day THEY WILL COME OFF! Then you can eat all the candy you want and not have your mom or dad get mad at you for breaking ANOTHER bracket.

Okay, so I had some good times during my seventh grade year, but there were also the not so good times. For instance, in case you weren't here last year, we a teacher or two who decided work wasn't the top priority. Well, this year was a whole lot different, I can tell you that. We had teachers who actually TAUGHT us something. I was happy to know we were actually going to LEARN something. Then came the homework. I know learning and homework are really good for you and everything, but lets have a reality check here. I'm a teenager, teenagers and homework don't really mix that well. I promise you, I think Mt. Homework was placed in my bedroom night after night. Although we had tons of it, and spending late nights at the table with a book, I still want to thank the teachers for actually teaching us, even though I may hate homework. So thank you!

Last year, as you may have heard, could be described in one five letter word, drama. Yep, it was a pretty bad year. This year I knew it was going to get better, I mean how could it possibly get worse? Well maybe this year it did get a WHOLE lot better, but it still had its drama. Of course every school is going to have its drama, but since we are such a small school, gossip travels VERY fast. It's basically like if you don't want the whole school to know about it, don't tell anyone, keep it to yourself. Even though this year has definately had its gossip and drama, I still enjoyed it.

Well, I've told you some of my ups and downs of seventh grade, but there's only one more thing I have to complain about. Then I promise, I will be done. Ugggh, Yes summer is only a week away, but guess what? Finals are standing in the way of freedom. Yes, they come twice a year after each semester, and boy, do I hate those things! Yeah, I can deal with the classwork, the homework, and yes, even the tests, but I don't know if I can handle finals. The mid-year finals were okay because it was only over stuff of half a year. This is a whole year of learning we're talking about here, though. Some of the finals will be fine, though, because their just going to be a chapter test, not over the WHOLE year. Science, however, is going to be over the whole, entire year, and that class is hard as it is! I may stress out a lot this week, but I'll live, I'm not that worried, only one more week of school!

So there you have it. My whole seventh grade year crammed into eight little paragraphs. Okay, maybe not my WHOLE year, but some of my highs and lows of this year. Wow, now that I look back on it, this was a pretty hectic year. It had its major ups and downs, like a rollercoaster. With the drama, gossip, the mountains of homework, friends, and the totally immature moments, I'd say this was a good, but very eventful year. I'm sad to see the year go, but I'm also excited about the year that's coming on! I'm finally going to be in eighth grade, and then, highscool, but that's not for a while. Day Dreaming

Have you ever just sat yourself down onto the grass and stared at the sky as the clouds drifted by? You don't even have to be on the grass, you could be in a car, but if you haven't you really should. It's a time of relaxation, and letting your mind drift, just as the clouds do. Day dreaming is a time where you can organize all your thoughts of the day and for me, have some peace and quiet for a minute. It can also be a time to catch up with God and just have some personal time with Him. No one is there to distract you with chores or homework, you can just be. I bet if you know me though, you're probablyl wondering, "Hannah, when do you have the time to do that?" Well, I don't often get the chance, but when I do, I absolutely love the time where I can just relax. So next time you have a spare minute or two, just go outside and simply let your mind drift and relax.

The car had an awkward air about it that night. No one said a word, until Mom broke the ice. She said, "Honey, what you did today was very stupid and you could have gotten hurt!" Wait a minute, you're probably a little confused, so I'll back up a little bit. Hi, my name is Macey, and I am currently a seventeen-year-old junior in high school. Okay, now that you know that, I can start my story.

My friends and I had been hanging out at the local amusement park the entire day. It was about two o' clock, and we began to make our way to the roller coasters. As we reached the rides, we all stopped dead in our tracks and formed perfect little o's with our mouths, as we stared at the monster before us. It was the new "Terminator" with the top speed of 97 miles per hour, thirteen loops in a row, and an dip of 150 feet, almost completely vertical. To top it all off, the whole thing was made completely of wood that swayed in the wind, not an inch of metal on the whole thing!

After staring at the coaster, my friends and I immeadiately began talking.

"Is it safe?"

"Oh my gosh! We have to ride it!"

"I wonder how long the line is..."

After a couple minutes of that, Marissa said," Oh my gosh, one time I was watching this show, and this guy rode down a roller coaster on a bike! Wouldn't it be insane if someone did that on the "Terminator"?"

All of us agreed, and jokingly suggested that one of us should do it. Then Rebecca, the crazy one, told me,"You know Macey, I really think you should do ride a bike down it! It would be so awesome, we could video tape it too! Besides, Marissa's uncle's cousin owns the park, I'm sure he'd let us in the park after hours! Plus, if you don't chicken out, I promise, I will do all your homework for a month!"

Now that was a little tempting, but I immeadiately shot down the dare. There was a lot of commotion after me being SMART, and Lisa even said she would give me fifty bucks! Marissa also assured me that no one would be there, and her uncle's cousin would totally let us stay after the park closed. I don't know what made me do it, but I finally agreed. It was probably because I had just seen a really cute purse for around fifty dollars, and I REALLY hate homework. I don't know, it could have been peer pressure.

So there I was, at the top of the world, (roller coaster) feeling the wind whip my hair around, as I was about to make my life or death descent. My hands were numb and my mind was blank as I stood upon the ride, on my little sister's bike. I was about to fly down the tracks, when I hear on a megaphone, "Macey Anna Streety, what do you think you are doing?!" It was my mom. How did she know? Well, anyway, I got down, (not by riding my bike!) and explained the whole situation to Mom. She was not pleased, I can tell you that. So I said goodbye to my friends, and walked to the car where we would discuss my doom.

After we had been driving along the road for a while, I noticed that the car had an awkward air about it that night. No one had said a word, until Mom broke the ice. She said," Honey, what did today was very stupid, and you could have gotten hurt! I think that you truly deserve a punishment. Do you believe the same, Dave?" My dad mumbled something that sounded like a "Sure," so my mom continued,"Macey, I am going to ground you for two months, including no cell phone, television, or computer, and I don't want to hear any complaining!" I didn't complain, I knew I deserved it. So we drove home, and I had to hand over my precious little phone. This was going to be a long two months.

The World of Day Dreams

Maggie lay in the sweet, lush grass, staring at the clouds above her. She noticed that one began to resemble a castle like the ones she used to play princess in when she was younger. "Oh, those were the days," Maggie whispered to herself. The cloud then began to transform into a differant shape. Maggie sighed and secretly wished that the world of princesses, dragons, and castles would come back, but she knew that would be impossible. As the last thought crossed her mind, Maggie began to drift into the world of day dreams, where anything is possible.
Maggie awoke, laying on a soft, feather-filled bed, while a servant was tending to the fire in the fireplace. As Maggie sat up, the servant spoke,"Good morning Princess. I'm afraid you may not visit outside today, for the dragon is still awaiting you. I hope you enjoy your day."
Dazed, Maggie replied,"Very well." The servant girl then rose from her position at the fireplace, dusted some ashes off her tattered dress, and exited the room. Maggie was very confused. She decided that she had to see this dragon for herself, to know he was really out there. Maggie wandered over to a nearby wardrobe, and opened its magnificent door. Before her eyes hung the most beautiful dresses Maggie had ever seen. She chose a gorgeous lavender one with matching slippers and a stunning amythest necklace. As she walked down the staircase to the grand entrance were the dragon was supposedly awaiting her, Maggie wondered how she knew her way around. When she reached the enormous, intimidating oak doors, Maggie used all her strength to open them, finally allowing her to reach outside. As she stepped onto the grass, she heard a deafening roar. Maggie spun around to see a monsterous, emerald dragon with fangs the size of oak trees headed right for her. What was she to do!? Surely the dragon was going to kill her! She then fainted from sheer terror.
Maggie awoke with her heart pounding. "That was some dream," Maggie said to herself. She reflected on her dream and decided playing princess is a lot safer, especially when the "dragon" is really your next-door neighbor. Maggie then said, "I think I've had enough dragons for one lifetime," and walked merrily to her home for some lunch.

What's Goin On?!

Hey! Welcome to my blog, and my very first post! To start things off, I'll tell you a little about myself. I am currently going through the fantastic time of middle school, where you skip merrily down the hall, giving hugs and compliments to everyone in sight! At least I wish. In reality, it can have its great, fun times, but with those fun times, it brings its friend, drama. After a while, though, you just learn to deal with the heartache and drama of middle school. But enough about the negatives of being a teenager, the fun things are what count! One of my all-time FAVORITE pastimes is getting on the stage and performing a show for whoever will watch. Someday I hope to have my name in lights on Broadway, or in Hollywood, but for now, I'm going to enjoy any opportunity I get to act. My favorite movie of the moment is Sherlock Holmes.
